Education
At Congregation Beth Judea we are dedicated to life-long learning. Our tradition teaches us “Aseh l’cha rav uk’neh l’cha chaver – Appoint for yourself a teacher and acquire a friend” (Pirkei Avot 1:6). In the spirit of this great lesson, we invite you to find a teacher, a study partner and a friend in Congregation Beth Judea's Education opportunities. Our learning never ceases and there is always more to what we think we’ve already mastered.
The challenge: describe your Jewish life. Six words exactly, and that’s all. Just like this – short, direct, pithy.

It’s an exercise put forth by Larry Smith, Brooklyn-based editor-in-chief of SMITH, an online magazine that is home to participatory storytelling. More exactly, Smith is asking for people to describe the essence of their Jewish story in six words - no more and no less. In the age of texting and tweeting and the like, this might not seem a stretch. But this one demands equal doses of inner reflection, creativity, and brevity. Here’s what our Heh students came up with.
