Welcome

Our History

In the late 1960’s a group of Jewish families in the Buffalo Grove, Long Grove and Wheeling communities started meeting on a regular basis with the intent of forming a conservative Jewish synagogue. Those meetings led to the founding of Congregation Beth Judea in 1969. The original building was dedicated in the early 1970’s. A major expansion was completed in 1985. Another smaller expansion was finished in 1999.

About Us

Congregation Beth Judea now counts more than 475 families as members, hosts a vibrant and inclusive religious school and one of the city’s most respected early learning centers. We are proud of how each member brings his or her own story to our diverse community – such as those who have a multi-generational history at our congregation and those new to the city or Congregation Beth Judea, of all ages and backgrounds who are seeking a Jewish community – a place to call home.
