Sisterhood Mission Statement

The mission of Congregation Beth Judea Sisterhood is to foster and further the highest ideals of Conservative Judaism, as expressed by the Synagogue, serving as a center of religious, charitable, educational and social activities for the women of the Synagogue.

Sisterhood will continually strive to:

  • Enhance the lives of its members with programs and activities that provide meaning and enjoyment.
  • Unite the diverse women of Beth Judea and create a sense of purpose, involvement and friendship.
  • Expand its presence, leadership and impact on the Synagogue and community as a whole.
  • Identify meaningful causes to support, and engage in activities to support these efforts.
  • Strengthen bonds with the larger Jewish community (e.g. Women’s League, Jewish Theological Seminary, other Sisterhoods), in an effort to broaden perspective and collaborate on new ideas / programs.

Sisterhood programs, activities and goals will embody and reflect the group’s core values:

  • Dedication to observing and preserving Conservative Judaism’s traditions
  • Commitment to mitzvot / good works
  • Desire for a warm, welcoming environment in which women can find camaraderie and fellowship

Torah Fund Information

The 2021 – 2022 Sisterhood Torah Fund Campaign has begun!

This year’s theme is “B’Yachad”” which means: “together”.

Please consider donating to sustain the future of Conservative Judaism. All proceeds support our 5 seminaries and ensure the continuity of our rabbis, cantors, scholars and leaders.

Here at Congregation Beth Judea we have supported Torah Fund for decades. Both Rabbi Zimbalist and Rabbi Emeritus Lifshitz have graduated from schools that are supported from the Torah Fund. The five seminar schools are:

  • Jewish Theological Seminary (New York)
  • Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies (Los Angeles)
  • Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies (Jerusalem)
  • Seminario Rabinico Latinomericano (Buenos Aires)
  • Zacharias Frankel College (Germany)

We are very proud of our strong commitment to Torah Fund.

We invite every member of Beth Judea to contribute.

  • No contribution is too small and donations are tax deductible.
  • If you donate $180 or more you will receive this year’s Torah Fund pin /pendant.

Contact Andrea Heiger at AndreaDHeiger@gmail.com or (847) 507-2168. Make checks payable to  Torah Fund. Checks can be left in the office in an envelope marked Sisterhood. Benefactor donations of $180 and above will receive the beautiful 5781 Torah Fund pin to celebrate our beautiful Togetherness.
