Selichot is the special day that helps us to focus as a community on the High Holiday cycle, which begins with the Jewish New Year and culminates with Simchat Torah.

In a program created especially for Congregation Beth Judea, Cantor Bat-Sarah and the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band will take us from Rosh Hashanah to Simchat Torah with the soulful and joyous sounds of klezmer music. Beginning in a meditative mood, the performance will culminate with community dancing in anticipation of Simchat Torah.

The Maxwell Street Klezmer Band has been entertaining audiences from Chicagoland to Europe since 1983 with an engaging performance filled with warmth and humor. They will be releasing their sixth album this year, which was recorded live at the band’s 40th Anniversary Celebration at the Old Town School of Folk Music.
